FUEL STUDENT MINISTRIES
CORE VALUES
|
Truth Our guide and the filter through which we will run everything through is the revealed Truth of God as outlined in the entirety of the Holy Bible. we will teach the Word of God, and to equip students to apply it and live it in every part of their lives.
|
Presence We are, first and foremost, people of God. It is our intention to manifest the presence of God in our lives and in our gatherings. The presence of God should be characteristic of our ministry, regardless of location or event. Worship and vertical living will be priorities in our ministry and community. We will encourage expressions of creativity in worship and prayer, utilizing the many different talents and gifts that God has given us. We will work to build an atmosphere where the broken, hurting, and rejected can come and experience the healing and restoring power of God. |
Reconciliation This comes from the idea that the primary mission of the church is reconciliation and redemption. The very first discipleship call that Jesus made consisted of “come with me, and I will make you fishers of men.” We are responsible to be agents in the repairing of the breach between God and man. Outreach needs to be an integrated part of who we are, not just events that we do. We need to be out the Gospel message in our lives, in the lives of others, and in our schools and community. We need to be Christians outside of the walls of the church. Instead of just trying to attract the lost, will strive to creatively look for ways in which we can connect and make a meaningful contribution into the lives of those who do not yet believe, that they may see the life of Christ lived out in us within the context of their own world and not just church activities. When we do have church activities we will always be mindful and intentional about creating opportunities for pre-believers and Christians to connect in meaningful, redemptive ways. This will enable us to share the Gospel in its most effective form – through the context of relationship. We are prepared to sacrifice the comfort of having a nice, easy group of disciplined, good students in order to better fulfill the church’s mission of bringing hope and healing to the hurting.

Community
The church should be a model of what true community looks like. Jesus taught about living in the context of “The Kingdom” far more often than he spoke of the context of the individual. Much of the New Testament is written to the church, not just the person. We will embrace the Kingdom value of true community, even when it runs counter to an American culture of isolation and individualism. We will view ourselves as a community of disciples, not a gathering of individuals. We will make it a priority to build an atmosphere where relationships grow and flourish, and foster a sense of belonging. |
Celebration The church has reason to excel at jubilant celebration. We have reason to celebrate not just a secure eternity, but also a life that God gives us more abundantly. The Israelites made regular celebration of God, His goodness, and His faithfulness a priority and an important part of their tradition. We hope to recapture the tradition and inclination to celebrate life. We, as Fuel Student Ministries, believe that we should model an attitude of thankfulness and a tendency towards celebration. While the world often needs crutches such as alcohol or drugs to be celebratory, we in the church have the benefit of real relationships, biblical love, and the acceptance of people regardless of who they are. Having good reason to celebrate, we will will value and encourage regular expressions of celebration. |
